About the Project:
The Mater Infirmorum Hospital is a historic landmark building in Belfast that has provided acute care to the community since the 1880s. Recent architectural redevelopment focused on integrating a new Day Elective Surgery and Ambulatory Care Centre within the constraints of the heritage site. The design emphasizes natural light through a central courtyard and preserves a listed stone wall that provides a peaceful patient and visitor garden, balancing the functionality of a modern medical facility with its significant local history.
